The Aggie softball team picked up a 4-0 win against San Jose State on Friday afternoon. The Aggies improve to 7-6 in conference play with the victory. The Aggies will honor their seniors on Saturday as the Aggies and Spartans play a doubleheader to wrap up the final home games of the season for the Aggie softball team.

The Aggie baseball team picked up a much needed win taking game one of the four game weekend series with Sacramento State by a final of 7-4. The Aggies scored first in the top of the second inning taking a 1-0 lead. Sacramento State took the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth and the Aggies responded by scoring three in the top of the sixth to go up 4-2 and then scored one run in each of the remaining three innings. The crazy defensive play of the day belonged to the Aggies who had a 9-2-6-4-5-3-6 put out as the Aggies threw out Sacramento State's Wes Oberlin to end the bottom of the seventh inning. Oberlin singled and recorded an RBI but was thrown out at second.

With the victory the Aggies improve to 6-11 in conference play. The Aggies and Hornets play a doubleheader tomorrow and finish up the series on Sunday.

The Aggie men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the 2008 WAC Tennis Championships by defeating 6-seed Nevada 4-1. The Aggies will face 2-seed Fresno State tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in the semifinals.

The Aggie women's tennis team lost 4-0 to top seed Fresno State in the semifinals of the 2008 WAC Tennis Championships.

Eusebe And Zuniga Capture Doubles Crown

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Juniors Stephanie Eusebe and Paulina Zuniga won both of their doubles matches to take the title of the B doubles draw Saturday for the New Mexico State women's tennis team at the New Mexico Individual Invitational.

Eusebe and Zuniga defeated UTEP Vicky Michaud and Harmonie Chatagner, 8-4, to advance to their second straight doubles championship match. There they defeated UNM Maria Sotirchos and Mackenzie White in a thrilling match, 9-7.

Assistant coach Ivan Fernandez was excited to see his doubles team win the match against their in-state rivals.

"It was great to see them win the championship match after being rained out of their championship match in Houston two weeks ago," Fernandez said. "They fought hard in the match and highlighted the day for us."

Fagegaltier Takes Third Place At UTEP Tournament

EL PASO, TX - New Mexico State women's tennis senior Anne Fagegaltier defeated Arizona's Jane Huh in the top singles flight at the Miner Fall Invitational Sunday, Sept. 23 to take third place.

Fagegaltier lost the first set 6-0, but came back in the second set to win, 6-2. Then Huh and Fagegaltier battled it out in the third set tiebreaker, where the Aggies talented senior came pulled away to win the match 10-2.

Head coach Don Ball was pleased to see his team improve in its final day of its first tournament of the fall.

"It was a good event for us and we got better as we went along," Ball said. "We played substantially better today and I think we got over our first tournament getters."
