The Aggies will honor their seniors on Saturday as the Aggies and Spartans play a doubleheader to wrap up the final home games of the season for the Aggie softball team.

The Aggies scored first in the top of the second inning taking a 1-0 lead. Sacramento State took the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth and the Aggies responded by scoring three in the top of the sixth to go up 4-2 and then scored one run in each of the remaining three innings.
Pfeifer Wins On Senior Day

Written by: NMSU Athletic Dept.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Senior Jeff Pfeifer won his final regular season match at the NMSU Tennis Center for the New Mexico State men's tennis team, which won its third straight match with a 4-0 victory over Texas-Arlington Sunday morning.

Both teams played the first to four team points because of the high winds in the area. NMSU improves to 6-4 on the year while the Mavericks fall to 3-7.

Assistant coach Carlos Vargas believed this weekend, where his team won all three matches, got the Aggies back on track.

"Everybody on the team was playing better this weekend," Vargas said. "Playing three matches in three days is really tough and today worried me because of the wind and I didn't want our guys to have a let down after two big wins. Our main focus today was to go after them."

Pfeifer won his No. 2 doubles match with freshman Jim Brouleau, 8-5 to help the Aggies sweep all three doubles matches.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Four singles players for the New Mexico State men's tennis team advanced to the Round of 32, all by winning their matches in straight sets Wednesday in day one of the ITA Mountain Regional Championships at the UNLV Darling Tennis Center.

Head coach Don Ball knew coming into the tournament that his team was talented enough to have a strong showing at the regional championships.

"Having four players reach the third round in the main draw is awesome," Ball said. "We haven't had that happen at regionals in years. We just had a really good day and it gives us a good opportunity to be one of the top four teams here."

Written by: NMSU Athletic Dept.

LAS VEGAS, NV - New Mexico State sophomore men’s tennis player Gustave Diep easily won his Round of 32 match at the ITA Mountain Regional Championship Thursday and then nearly pulled off an upset of the country’s fifth-ranked player in the round of 16.

Shields took the first set from Diep, 6-1, but then the Aggies talented sophomore showed why he was the 2007 ITA Mountain Region Rookie of the Year and battled right back to win the second set 7-6. The third set went to a tiebreaker, where Shields was able to come out on top, 7-5.
