Men's Golf Tournament Recaps

The Daily Aggie :: 04/30/08 :: Championship Edition

Congratulations to the Aggie men's golf team. The Aggies brought home their second WAC title in three years holding off Boise State while playing short-handed. The Aggies were only playing with four of their five players (meaning all scores count). Kevin Lozares fired a 74 to lead the way for the team which finished at +27 overall (+15 for the day). At the time that we are writing this, the Aggies are five shots ahead of Boise State with one Boise State player left on the course. Given that the Aggies are five shots ahead and the BSU player has just three holes left (a par 5, par 3 and par 4) and as decent golfers ourselves, we can safely say there is no way he's making up five shots in three holes (he would have to have an eagle, ace, birdie combo finish just to tie). So with that said we are projecting with 99.999% assuredness that the Aggies are 2008 WAC Conference Champions! CONGRATULATIONS AGGIES!

UPDATE: It's official! Boise State's Troy Merritt, the final BSU player on the course, finished par, bogey, birdie and claims medalist honors after finishing the tournament 7-under par. The Aggies claim a five stroke victory and are now headed to the 2008 NCAA Men's Golf Championships Regionals.
