DENVER, CO - New Mexico State's Jonah Ruyablid and Sarabel Bojorquez have been named the Western Athletic Conference men's and women's Cross Country Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 1-7.
Ruybalid, a senior from Los Lunas, N.M. (Los Lunas HS), continued his winning streak for NM State when he finished first for the Aggies and third overall with a time of 24:59.9 in the Grand Canyon Invitational. Ruybalid has finished first for NM State in every event he has competed in this season. His time helped earn the Aggies a dominating win at the meet, the first win for the men's team this season.
Bojorquez, a junior from Phoenix, Ariz. (Central Arizona College), earned her top finish for NM State this past weekend when she finished first for NM State and fourth overall with a time of 18:36.0 at the Grand Canyon Invitational. Bojorquez helped the Aggies finish second as a team, defeating Arizona State and Northern Arizona University, regionally ranked No. 9 in the West region.
