The Daily Aggie :: 08/27/12

With the Aggie volleyball team's two victories on Saturday the team improved to 3-0 on the young season. The Aggies defeated both North Dakota State and Northern Illinois by 3-1 margins and won the NIU Invitational. For the Aggies it's their first 3-0 start since the 2009 season and it's perhaps the most impressive 3-0 start in terms of quality of opponent that the Aggies have had under head coach Mike Jordan which is saying a lot.

All-in-all it was just about as perfect a start to a season that any coach could ask for. The Aggies faced adversity, had some weaknesses exposed but in the end they persevered and came away with three victories.

Next up for the volleyball team it's a home tournament beginning on Friday. The Aggies will take on Cincinnati, Drake and Northwestern and have a couple more opportunities for great RPI boosting victories. Last season Cincinnati finished 20th in the RPI, Northwestern was 78th while Drake was 195th but plays in a very, very good volleyball league, the Missouri Valley Conference (where recent Aggie victim Wichita State plays).
