DENVER, CO – New Mexico State’s Johan Ruybalid has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference men’s and women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Sept. 5-11. 

Ruybalid, a junior from Los Lunas, N.M. (Los Lunas HS), placed fifth overall at the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational last week. It marks the second-straight week that Ruybalid has finished with the best overall time for New Mexico State in an event. Ruybalid placed fifth at the event with a time of 21:43.4.
