The UTEP Miners are calling Saturday's game a must-win game after losing their first two games of the season. The Aggies already passed their must-win test beating Prairie View A&M this past Saturday. The series record stands at 49-35-2 in favor of the Miners but the Aggies have won the past two meetings and an Aggie victory would mark the third longest win streak in the series for the Aggies. They've held a five game winning streak once (1920-1924), four game winning streaks three times (1973-1976, 1978-1981 and 1992-1995) and two game winning streaks five times (1914-1915, 1937-1938, 1960-1961, 1984-1985 and the current two game streak). Historically speaking Aggie fans should root for a victory on Saturday because the Aggie two game winning streaks have generally been followed by long periods of losing in the series, streaks of six, two and four following the three most recent two game Aggie win streaks.

The Aggie women's soccer team finally back at home as they host UT-Permian Basin today at Aggie Memorial Stadium at 6:00 p.m. The Aggies are coming off a four game road swing that saw them go a very respectable 2-2. Both of the Aggies' losses came to NCAA Tournament caliber teams (NAU went to the NCAA Tournament last season).

The Aggies will be looking for their first home victory today. UTPB is 2-2 on the season and is averaging 2.25 goals per game. The Aggies are 2-4 on the season and are averaging 1.17 goals per game. The Aggie defense will need to be aware of UTPB's Hannah Dozier. Dozier, a sophomore striker, has scored four of the Lady Falcons' nine goals this season and has assisted on two other goals. The Aggies' goal scoring has been balanced thus far as five different Aggies have scored their seven team goals. Nina Yanes and Crystal Burns have two goals each for the Aggies.

The Aggies have been pretty solid in goal this season but one emerging trend has been giving up an early goal. The Aggies have allowed five first half goals while scoring just twice in the first half, once in each of the past two games. UTPB has been consistent in their scoring by halves. They've scored four goals in the first half and five in the second half this season. If the Aggies can hold the Lady Falcons scoreless in the first half, they should have a great shot at winning this game. The Aggies have scored five of their seven goals in either the second half or overtime.

Today's game is set to start at 6:00 p.m. MST. Live Stats will be available for this game.
