Aggie Men's Golf Claims WAC Championship For Second Consecutive Year

The Aggie men's golf team claimed back to back WAC Championships and their third title in four seasons in the WAC as they held off Fresno State in Wednesday's final round. The Aggies entered the final day with a four shot lead over Fresno State and the two teams battled back and forth. Fresno State held a one shot lead on the back nine but the Aggies were able to rally and hold off the Bulldogs. Travis Reid led wire to wire to claim individual medalist honors after he fired a final round 69 (-3) to finish the tournament 7-under par. Fresno State's Grant Doverspike, playing in the final group with Reid, fired a final round 70 (-2) and finished three shots back at -4. Freshman Gaston De La Torre fired a 1-under 71 to finish 4th. The Aggies as a team fired an aggregate 1-under final round while Fresno State compiled a 4-under final round.

With the victory the Aggies earn the automatic berth into the NCAA Men's Golf Championship with their regional destination to be announced later.
