The Aggie women's basketball team lost in the quarterfinals to the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters 81-68 on Wednesday night. Madison Spence, Danisha Corbett and Tyshae Walton each scored 13 points on the night. La. Tech's Shanavia Dowdell and Adrienne Johnson each scored 18 points and Johnson grabbed a career high 16 rebounds. Tabytha Wampler finished the game with six points, Kaitlyn Soto scored eight points, going 8-8 from the free throw line, Brittany Palmer finished with nine points including 2-2 from behind the three point arc and Kelsie Rozendall finished with six points.
The Aggies turned the ball over 21 times with La. Tech scoring 27 points off of those turnovers. The Lady Techsters also dominated the offensive glass as they grabbed 26 offensive rebounds to just 11 for the Aggies and took 17 more shot attempts than the Aggies. Both teams shot 40% from the floor with La. Tech making seven more shots than the Aggies. New Mexico State shot an impressive 91% from the free throw line, 21-23. Louisiana Tech shot 33 free throws converting 21 for 63%.
The Aggies finish the season with a 9-22 record and did not win at least one game in the WAC tournament for the first time since joining the WAC but still sport a record of 6-4 in the tournament.
