A View From The Stands :: October 19th, 2008

I saw the Chickens and a few Eggs also...

Thanks to everyone who showed up on Saturday to support the NMSU Aggies and the Tough Enough to wear Pink event.  It was great to see over 20,000 fans at AMS for a non UTEP or UNM game. Unfortunately the eggs I saw came on the field.  The game started with a long kickoff return by San Jose to set up a 30 plus yard run and gave the Spartans a quick 7-0 lead.  The defense made quick adjustments and kept a good San Jose offense in check for pretty much the rest of the night.

On the next possession, the Aggie defense picked off a pass and set our offense up (after a face mask penalty) around the 15 yard line.  Unfortunately Chase threw the first of his two interceptions that were both returned for TD's.  The game still was just a seven point advantage to SJSU until midway through the fourth when we muffed a punt and gave up a big punt return to allow the Spartans to go up by 17.

The San Jose defense really gave our offensive line fits with the twisting and delayed stunts.  We may not see another defesne that good the rest of the year (maybe Boise State).  There will be as many as four or five off that San Jose State defense who get drafted and will play in the NFL.

Halftime was dedicated to the presentation of the check of the money raised by NMSU and the Tough Enough To Wear Pink campaign.  It was quite moving to see a check presented in excess of $581,000.  What an awesome show of AGGIE PRIDE.  Hats off to all of you who contributed in this event.  Maybe next year we can make it a cool million!!!!  Once again they asked everyone in the crowd who had been affected by or known someone affected by cancer to stand up and in my estimation it was close to 9 out of 10.  This is a deadly disease that affects each and everyone of us in some way everyday.  I am proud to be an Aggie and proud to know that we ARE TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK!!!!!

My prediction for this weeks's game inside the Kibble Dome is:
NMSU 48
Idaho 14
and I told Chris Williams after the game that I had a vision of a 100 yard kick off return for a TD in his future.  Keep the faith Aggie fans, this is the year we turn the corner and go bowling.

GO AGGIES!

Turning the corner

I sure hope Dave is right when he says, "turning the corner and go bowling."
We are at the seasons half way mark and the window of opportunity closes every game...win or lose the window closes on this Senior classes career.
