Alyssa GintantName: Alyssa Gintant
Hometown: I'm from a suburb of Chicago, Libertyville, Ill.
Major: Marketing with a minor in advertising
Position: Setter (one of them)

What's your favorite part about playing volleyball?
I enjoy the competitive nature of the sport. I really enjoy when people make big plays especially as a setter when I get one on ones for hitters and they just kill the ball.

What's your favorite movie?
Any Martin Scorsese film. I'm a big fan.

What's your favorite food?
Pizza

What's currently playing on your iPod?
Currently it's a mix that I made. The team really influences what I listen to so lately it's been a lot of pop and rap. I'm usually alternative.

What's your favorite television show?
It has to be Family Guy.

If you couldn't play volleyball, what sport would you play?
Tennis

Singles or doubles?
Singles. I played when I was really young and I was really good but then volleyball took over my life.

What attracted you to come to NMSU?
The program. It's a great program. Coach Jordan's built it up into a Top 25 program consistently. And the warm weather, being from Chicago definitely.

What's something about yourself that most people don't know?
I was born in New York. I'm actually from upstate New York.

What's your favorite Coach Jordan story?
There was this one time he was making fun of us, we were waiting for our bags at the airport and he had this stack of papers and he was writing stuff on the papers and sticking them on the bags as they came around. It was inside jokes and stuff but it was really funny at the time.

What does being a leader on this team mean to you?
It means being there for the players, it means helping people out especially when they're having a hard time at practice and the coach is on them and trying to help them learn in a positive manner.

What wisdom do you hope to pass on to the younger players?
To compete as hard as you can every day especially at practice. Sometimes we really don't realize how far this program has come and how it's been built up for us. There were people before us had to struggle and get it to the point where it is today and we really have to be grateful for that.

What do you want to be remembered for at New Mexico State?
Definitely winning the WAC and it would be great being on that team. Advancing in the NCAA's and getting far. It would be a great accomplishment.
