The Daily Aggie :: 09/13/11

I-10 Rivalry week begins tonight in the Pan Am as the Aggies (8-2) take on the Miners (9-2). The Aggies have won 13 consecutive matches in the series and are looking to continue their dominance in the series. The Miners might have one of their better teams in recent memory. They've got three players averaging at least three kills per set led by junior outside hitter Bridget Logan (3.79). The other two players averaging over three kills per set are a pair of sophomore middle blockers, Jeane Horton and Xitlali Herrera, both are averaging 3.00 kills per set.

Aggie freshman Meredith Hays leads the Aggie offense averaging 4.26 kills per set. The Aggies have a lot of balance offensively with Kelsey Brennan in the middle averaging 2.81 kills per set and hitting .381 and there are five other Aggies who averaging just under two kills per set. The Aggies have held their opponents to just a .121 attacking percentage so far this season and their blocking has improved a bit over last season as the Aggies are averaging 2.27 blocks per set. Last season the Aggies were allowing opponents to hit .193 against them.

Tonight's match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. first serve and can be seen on AggieVision as well as ESPN3.com online.
