Jordan Bostic is a defensive specialist for the 2007 NMSU Aggies volleyball team. Jordan was second on the team in both digs (311) and digs per game (2.47) and was named to the academic All-WAC team in 2006 with a GPA of 4.0. Jordan will be a senior in the fall and is majoring in Journalism/Mass Communication and she'll be filing entries in the Aggie Volleyball Diary throughout the 2007 season, giving fans a taste of life on the volleyball team.
It's volleyball season again, and I couldn't be more pumped up about it! Kim, Bri, Anna and I are all seniors, and for us, everything is somewhat bittersweet. We showed up for our very first practice, and I was joking with the other seniors, saying things like, "Ladies, this is the last time we are going to do the high knees warm-up routine on the first day of two-a-days!" and "This is the last time that we are going to soak our bodies in ice water after our first day of practice!" Everyone was groaning and laughing, but really, with this being our last year, every little moment is a memory and a milestone of some sort.
Along those same lines, Aug. 18 was the last time we are ever going to play in our pre-season scrimmage. Designed to smooth our nerves and work out the kinks, we have a scrimmage every year- usually against alumni- before our first official game. Due to one of the alumni getting married (Congrats Jackie Godber!), we had no alumni players, so we had an intrasquad scrimmage instead. I'll be honest; these scrimmages are not usually my favorite matches. It's typically a weird atmosphere because our fans don't know who to cheer for ("Go Crimson!
