Jordan Bostic's Aggie Volleyball Diary :: November 27th, 2006

Jordan Bostic is a member of the 2006 NMSU Aggies Volleyball team. Jordan led the team in both digs (463) and digs per game (4.72) and was named second team All-WAC in 2005. Jordan is currently a junior majoring in Journalism/Mass Communication and she'll be filing entries in the Aggie Volleyball Diary throughout the 2006 season, giving fans a taste of life on the volleyball team.

Now that the dust has finally settled on a very busy week, I can do a quick recap of the events.

First, we finished Senior Night at the Pan Am with a win to grab another school record: the most wins in a season, 31. Then, we had Sunday to rest and do laundry to prepare for a long road trip to Reno for the conference tournament. We arrived in Reno on Monday night and checked into the huge Circus Circus hotel (which hosted all of the teams).  Continue Reading This Post >>

I know it has been awhile since I have updated this diary, but you will have to forgive me because these last weeks have been a whirlwind. Tonight we reached the 30 win mark (hooray!) in our Pan-Am homecoming. Before the match we spent time reveling in our new locker room, loving the spacious set up and the fact that we now have showers. Since the Pan Am is still a work in progress, we didn't get to run out of the new tunnel, but we were all talking about how awesome that will be.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Wow - A LOT has happened since my last diary entry! We're now 21-1 (woohoo!!), tied for first in the WAC, defeated the 11th ranked team in the country... that's a pretty solid week!  Continue Reading This Post >>

You'll have to forgive me for not updating my diary sooner. Between all the practices, games, plane rides and midterms, I haven't had time to sit down and collect my thoughts. As it is, we just finished beating UTEP. I'm at home, eating dinner, taking a break from my English 311 reading, eating some Taco Bell (not exactly nutritious, but very satisfying after a game), waiting for my laundry to be done so that I can pack up for our trip to La Tech tomorrow.  Continue Reading This Post >>

When I walked into practice on Monday afternoon, I was feeling pretty great about our team. We were 14-0, with a perfect pre-conference record. It doesn't get much better than that, I was thinking to myself.

Little did I know it was about to get a lot better!

Media cameras were all around, but I didn't think much of it. It's football's bye-week, so I thought we may get some extra coverage. When Coach gathered us all together and told us we had finally cracked the Top 25, it was so exciting! It's a big deal for our program to finally get some national attention.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Well, we’ve played five games in five days, and now I finally have time to catch my breath!

We started our own tournament on Thursday night, taking on a tough Wyoming team. They were extremely scrappy, and we had to really work to score points. Like Coach Jordan was telling us, teams like that are exactly the types of teams we want to play. Making us work hard makes us better! We were happy to come out of that game with a win.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Tonight is our first home match at our home-away-from home, Las Cruces High. We’re taking on Florida A&M in two matches this weekend.

Everyone on the team is feeling good coming off a 4-0 start last weekend at the UTEP tournament. I was really proud of my teammates- they played great! Last year, we had problems with five game matches, but we were able to win one against Texas Tech this past weekend, which was a great confidence builder. We had veteran players step up in key situations and make plays. It bodes really well for the nail-biters that are sure to come this season.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Today, I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

It is our last day of two-a-day practices for the New Mexico State volleyball team. We have been practicing for five or six hours a day for the past two weeks, getting ready for our upcoming season.

“Today will be our last day of double-days,” were the words that Coach Jordan used to commence our first session this morning. These were surprising because we were supposed to have two-a-days all the way until school started, which isn’t for a couple of days.

A long silence ensued, with looks of disbelief on my teammates’ faces.  Continue Reading This Post >>
